Wow. I should have read more on Ackerman. I live in Atlanta. My system was already in use at my house, with a local monitoring firm. I had Ackerman come in and audit my system. I added cameras to the system. The service tech left my home, and I started having problems. I had to get him to come back out, several days later. Worst sales rep ever. Don't let Mr. Searles sell you anything. Originally this company came highly recommended but they have done nothing but disappoint. From erratic equipment performance to expensive TRIP charges to fix their failed equipment. Monthly monitoring is charged automatically to my Visa. May 31 two charges were posted - one for the correct amount, another for $5 more. Otherwise the two entries were alike - samd name, same date. Ackerman (3 different people) says they show only the correct one was charged and since they don't show the $23.95 in error they can not correct it! Do they believe Visa makes this up? They gave... Ackerman promised to switch my equipment. The service man came out, keep in mind my current system was working. He started trying to sell me more equipment. He disconnected my present system. There's some good things about Ackerman. I do get calls back pretty quickly when an alarm is set off. I've also never had any problems with the service itself. And I would say this is very good; it's what I'm paying for. I would love it though, if you could order a replacement power cord over the phone. You actually have to pay $80 for someone to come out. Ackerman sent a polite sales rep to my home and got me all nice and settled into a contract and as soon as I start having issues with my equipment they start quoting the $89.00 charge for service calls. Ackerman Security are some grade A liars and crooks. Long story short, the sales guy that came to our home lied to us about the different monitoring products that they offered and how they worked, but come to find out after spending $2,000 in upfront costs, we could only use a third of the monitoring systems that he sold us and it took Ackerman nearly 2 months to reimburse us. From the beginning of my experience with Ackerman, it has been nothing but negative again and again and again. In the beginning it was missed appointments, failure to return phone calls when I was given a "promise to get back with you," and false charges that I had to get taken off my bill. Installed systems at my home and business through Ackerman Security. Home system failed and I called Ackerman, informed me of the service charge fee and a disclaimer that if they found that the problem was the phone company that there would be additional charges. I posted an appointment request on the Ackerman website back in January, 2012. Weeks passed with no follow-up. My current policy ends the 1st of March so i was being proactive to ensure I had replacement service in place. No call-back from Ackerman, so I called them by phone.
